"GET YOUR WAR ON"
By Rachel Frankford
Philadelphia City Paper
May 26, 2006
Let's face it, Austin's Rude Mechs could have stuck sheets of David Rees's brilliant "Get Your War On" strip onto a slide projector in silence and it would have been awesome. But they did more than that; although there were several slide projectors, it was the actors who brought Rees's angsty, exultant, despairing, and cynical office grunts to life. "Motherfuckers just can't grieve like the USA," one of them boasts, and the line struck me: the show was fucking hilarious, but five years and two days after 9/11 and nearly four years into Iraq, I kind of cried, too.

"operation enduring freedom is in the motherfucking house!" the audience laughed hardily and i even sang along to the "life on mars" interlude. the actors were terrifically entertaining. the show was well choreographed and clever in its delivery of material. the minimal set and brilliant use of overhead projectors were right on. see it.
